You Decide

Clear sibling resemblance or each with his/her own distinctive look. More resemblance to one parent over the other for any of them?

I've Been Conned!

As my little man turned nine months old, I could only come to the conclusion that for eight months, I was the target of an elaborate scam. My sweet baby boy had been lulling me into complacency by deluding me into thinking he would always be my sweet and content child, who would not cause me a moment's worry.

Hah! Suddenly super mobile, and the facade has quickly vanished! This man has gotten into everything possible, even escaping onto our back porch and, one horrifying time, tumbling down some of our stairs.

Of course, he's still my super happy little man, ready with a smile, a wave, some claps and cheers, or just some good old-fashioned babbling whenever someone visits him or he sees one of us. This is despite the fact that he continues to fight pretty constant earaches and has for the past several days been running a 101-102 temp.

We are good friends with everyone in our pediatrician's office these days. Luckily, I love our new doc, who was so concerned at his last visit that she called personally to follow up the next day, and it was more because his normally sunny disposition was missing than because of the nasty ear infection or the spiking fever.

With a smile like that though, I have no doubt he will make it far in life.

Only Girl . . . All Girl

Before Lincoln was born, we were pretty sure we wanted four kids: two of each.

These days, three is feeling like a great number. Outside of the increased workload of having three, we just aren't sure if we could survive two girls.

The one we have now is amazing but handful doesn't begin to describe the force of personality that comes in this small package.

Super smart, super precocious, and indescribably girly, her ability to get into mischief and then to get right back out of it with a disarming smile and sweet hugs is remarkable.

If she's not putting in play makeup, she counting her tubes of chapstick, usually to be found in a tutu, but still ready to run and play in the dirt with her brother.

Her smile lights up the room . . . Unless she's found the light switch to play with.

I wouldn't trade her for anything but she might trade me for a pretty enough tutu or princess outfit. Let's hope it doesn't come to that :)
